Where to stay in Lonavala

Hotels near the Mumbai–Pune Expressway exits and the Lonavala–Khandala market are the most convenient budget-to-mid choice. Tungarli and the Lonavala Lake side have villas and resorts with lake and valley views. The premium resorts and lakeside camping are out toward Pawna Lake and Aamby Valley Road, 20–40 minutes from the centre.

Unusually, Lonavala's busiest and priciest season is the monsoon, June to September, when Mumbai and Pune weekenders come for the waterfalls and greenery — book well ahead for monsoon weekends. Weekdays and the dry February–May stretch are the cheapest. Because most demand is weekend day-trippers, midweek rates can be a fraction of the weekend price.

Lonavala hotel FAQs

Where should I stay in Lonavala?

Near the market and expressway exits for a convenient budget-to-mid base; Tungarli or the Lonavala Lake side for villas with views; the Pawna Lake area for premium resorts and lakeside camping.

When are Lonavala hotels cheapest?

On weekdays, and in the dry February–May window. The monsoon (June–September) is peak here, and weekends are far more expensive than weekdays year-round.

Is Lonavala worth visiting outside the monsoon?

Yes — the forts, caves and viewpoints are pleasant in winter and spring, crowds are thinner and hotels are much cheaper. The waterfalls, though, only run in and just after the monsoon.
